Here are my 3 favorite YouTube videos from 2009. They are each pretty random, but each represents a moment at which I not only book marked them but I actually watched them each over and over and over again. For good reason too. The first one, David Lynch’s version of a Goofy Movie is pure Lynchian weirdness. Watch as he mashes up a seemingly fun and light hearted animated kids movie and character, Goofy, into a nightmarish world complete with somber chilling music. The second, The Known Universe never gets old, just so inspiring to watch all we have mapped so far. Great music and the most complete insight into, well, the known universe. Journey from Tibet all the way to the edge of time and back. And finally, Happy in Paraguay. The guys who made this have way to much time on their hands and thank goodness for that. I never laughed so hard. They cleverly and painstakingly dubbed in their own voices to match the lips of the actors. The result is pure genius. Please enjoy my 2009 favorites.

The Wraith, 1986 Music Love
Never Surrender! I actually really liked this little gem of a straight to video movie in the late 80’s. Total classic if you’re into that 80’s cars rule, ghosts & deadly revenge, you really can’t go wrong with The Wraith. Plus you get classic songs like this to listen to while the on screen action gets your heart racing! Yeah!
Mystery Man & Fred
Classic freaky moment from David Lynch’s Lost Highway. This is the Mystery Man having an odd conversation with Fred Madison at a party. Be sure to listen to Fred’s phone number, the last three digits are 6 6 6. This is just another reason why I love Lynch.
Ninja Assassin

So lately, I don’t really much care for being excited about upcoming movies. It just seems like there is too much disappointment out there so why bother. Well, here is one movie I am very excited about. Ninja Assassin. Not only are ninja movies cool, but ninja assassin movies are even more badass! Ok, so I’m not that excited or that much of a dork, but after reading about all the great people involved in the making of this, from the Wachowski Brothers for producing to J. Michael Straczynski for writing it to James McTeigue for directing… it might just be that good. It has been a while but I might just see this movie opening night.
Romanian Star Wars Posters

Here are a couple nice Romanian Star Wars Posters found over at Japanese Movie Posters. This is printed very thin newpaper style paper. Quality of image is bizarre – story goes that it was a photo taken of an American poster so you can see the flash reflection within the image. Real cold war style poster and highly unusual. The first poster is Star Wars (see bigger) the second The Empire Strikes Back (see bigger).
Best of Frank – Blue Velvet – NSFW
Here are three classic Frank moments from the highly disturbing but brilliant movie Blue Velvet. Dennis Hopper captures pure evil in this film, both dark and humorous. These are not safe for work at all.
How to live Better – The Big Kahuna
Life lessons and they all ring true. This is the closing scene from the movie, The Big Kahuna, which was a great little movie if you’ve never seen it… Turn your speakers up. Also, do not read beauty magazines they will only make you feel ugly!
Poltergeist, My Favorite Horror Movie

Poltergeist is without a doubt one of the best horror movies and is still in my top five favorite movies of all time. Even though most people remember it as a horror movie, it’s really a drama about losing a child and how the family copes with it.
It just so happens that the family lives in a house that was built on top of an indian burial ground and evil spirits have taken there little daughter. So yes it has the horror, but is also has so much more including great actors, who were unknown at the time, a compelling story, solid special effects for the time, excellent musical score, great subtle humor and to be honest it is scary as hell. But if you ask me the film really is moving. Check out the scene below and ask me if this is a family drama or a horror film? They just don’t make horror like this anymore. Truly endearing, haunting and classic:
Don Felder – Heavy Metal
I am sure very few remember the animated movie Heavy Metal in 1981. Well not only was the movie itself classic but the soundtrack was simply amazing. My two favorites are from Don Felder. Check out the Songs along with the movie. You can get a taste of the how awesome this little animated movie is. The first video is played over the animation and the second video has the actual song playing in the background, but you can feel how ultra chill the song is. The song All Of You is very reminiscent of Pink Floyd. little side note, the movie and songs are perfect for right after you smoke up, trust me.
Moon (See This Movie)

Just saw the movie, Moon. Be sure to see this one. That is all.
Kate Beckinsale All Latex All The Time
So this is Kate Beckinsale in the movie UnderWorld. For those of you not familiar with the movie, it’s a very slick highly stylized vampire / wearwolf movie. It’s not bad but not great either, but it sure is fun to watch. The main reason it’s fun to watch; Kate Beckinsale plays Selene a vampire who falls in love with a human man who may just be a wearwolf and… oh who cares, she wears a shiny black skin tight latex outfit throughout the entire movie. I am not kidding, she wears this during the whole film. It’s pretty incredible. I also own this on dvd. Now if I only met a woman who dressed like this…
Can You Spot The Special Effects?
I counted at least 3.
